My mother will tell you I’ve said, “I’m going to be a doctor someday” since before I started kindergarten—though I did not know what kind of doctor I wanted to be until I had completed most of medical school. Ironically, I specifically did not want to be an OB/GYN. Then I spent six weeks in Waconia with Western OB/GYN on my medical student rotation. Halfway through that rotation, I knew. I not only needed to be an ob/gyn, but I needed to work at Western. And now that I’m here, I couldn’t be happier!
Because interactions in OB/GYN are deeply personal, I place an emphasis on partnering with my patients to tailor specific care plans for individual needs. I have a direct communication style and make every effort to give thorough explanations of all available options for a very patient-centered medical decision-making process. When surgery is necessary, I offer minimally invasive options when possible, including several office-based procedures. I feel strongly about the importance of vaccinations and highly encourage my patients and their partners to not only be up to date on their immunizations, but also to immunize their baby—and I’m happy to discuss the research and extensive data that supports this.
Born and raised in South Dakota, I prefer a smaller community in which to live and work. My husband and I live in Victoria with our three young children along with our cat, Mike and our black lab, Grace. We enjoy spending our family time playing together at home or out in the community, going to the zoo and arboretum. In my spare time, I enjoy running and reading (and look forward to doing both more as my kids grow), water sports and playing the piano when the occasion arises.
